It has recently invested in opening US warehouse facilities to ensure they are able to support the local US market in a timely and customer focussed manner and as a spring board to grow the company further.
We are looking for an energetic and self-driven Business Development Manager with extensive experience and a broad network in the performance automotive aftermarket industry. Your primary mission will be to dramatically extend market penetration throughout North America in the ‘domestic’ (non-import) automotive segment by supporting existing distributors and developing new distribution relationships. After an extensive training (remotely and eventually in New Zealand), your role will be to help grow sales from our existing distributor network through training and support and establish new resellers and distributors throughout North America by leveraging your vast network of industry contacts.
The role will be ably supported by the company’s NZ based technical team whose knowledge and experience is second to none. They will provide the successful applicant an unfair advantage in the market. This team thrives on a challenge and is excited by the prospect of working closely with the successful applicant.
While a Midwest location is desirable Kelford is more interested in engaging the correct applicant therefore remain flexible in terms of location and envisage a remote office arrangement. For those in the Detroit area an office facility is available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assume Accountability and Responsibility for current US client relationships
Define and develop sales strategies for high-performance aftermarket camshafts within the modern ‘American Domestic’ automotive segment, including driving sales volumes and revenues in-line with growth expectations and strategic objectives
Support existing distributors while identifying and on-boarding and training new channel partners
Assist in the development of segment and customer-specific digital marketing initiatives, including developing buyer personas across key market segments and establishing relationship with digital influencers
Identify and collect appropriate customer, competitor, market, economic, financial and/or operational data
Achieve regional sales volume targets and profit objectives
Develop and execute quarterly and annual business development plans with distributors
Generate new leads, identify and build relationships with end-users via distributor support activities and direct sales
Develops accurate sales pipeline forecasts broken down by region and distributor
Represent the company at national and regional trade shows and customer and consumer events, and conduct customer-specific product trainings
Maintains budget integrity within sales and expense budgetary guidelines
Qualifications and Experience
7-10 years sales and vendor/distributor/dealer management experience in the high-performance automotive aftermarket industry. While a background in Camshafts is desirable we welcome applications from those applicants with a background in engine internals with a sound knowledge of valvetrain.
North American regional market sizing and territory mapping
Excellent internal/external relationship building skills
Penetrate all levels of an organization to build rapport and support product presentations
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving for territory/channel development
Ability to learn computer-based ordering systems and utilize CRM
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding organizational skills
Strong ethical leadership abilities
Strong Understanding of Valve Train and Engine Building – you need to be able to walk the talk with an engine builder
